Gov. Ron DeSantis’ campaign promise to wipe out property taxes is moving forward as a proposal that could significantly slash revenue across the state heads to lawmakers. The Republican governor proposed a special legislative session for lawmakers to deliberate raising the homestead exemption on primary residences from $50,000 to $250,000, which would lower tax bills for 60 percent of Floridians, according to comments DeSantis made during a news conference reported by Bloomberg.
